Evidence Emerges of Azerbaijani Executions of Armenian Captives

The video was released on Telegram channels on the morning of October 2, and it depicted a group of Azerbaijani soldiers shooting a group of unarmed Armenian soldiers.

The office of Armenia’s human rights ombudsman said it had verified the authenticity of the video and that it was filmed during a large-scale Azerbaijani attack in mid-September, whileAzerbaijan’s general prosecutor announced that it had started a “comprehensive investigation” into the video of the executions to determine whether it was genuine, and if so who were the perpetrators: “As a result of the investigation, legal measures will be taken.”

Since the mid-September fighting, several other videos depicting abuse of soldiers or dead bodies have been released on social media to less attention.

Meanwhile, the foreign ministers of the two countries met in Geneva on October 2, part of the ongoing negotiations to work out a comprehensive agreement resolving the decades-long conflict between the two sides.
