Across the Asia Pacific region there is an increasing trend of a return to authoritarian rule, amidst the growing anti-democracy influence and regional security tensions in the region caused by both China and the United States. Faced with these trends, human rights organizations, activists and supporters of democracy are involved in many strategic and inspirational initiatives. In this panel, experts from the Asia Justice and Rights and the International Center for Transitional Justice will share insights and examples from their programs in the region aiming at reversing the authoritarian trend, strengthening the rule of law and advance justice for victims.
