Dutch, German Ministers Condemn Child Abductions in Ukraine

The German and Dutch foreign ministers on Monday condemned the deportation by Russians of thousands of Ukrainian children, calling it a deliberate policy of cruel and inhumane abductions that is tearing families apart.

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said German and Dutch ministers will work together with organizations including the United Nations and International Criminal Court (ICC) on the issue.

Baerbock said Germany supports “the Ukrainian desire to establish a tribunal for Russia’s aggression and crimes” and also wants to see the Rome Statute updated so that only the nation that is targeted in a campaign of aggression needs to be a member of the ICC for it to have jurisdiction.
