Syria

Yara Al Chehayed joined ICTJ in 2023 as a Program Officer for the Syria program. Prior to ICTJ, Yara was a scholar at UcLouvain, Belgium, specializing in Cinema, War, and Hauntology. For the past 10 years she has been working as a communication and advocacy expert on various projects. More recently, Yara has focused on collecting oral history and stories as part of the Tarikhi.org digital library. Her work is at the intersection between identities, narratives, and post memory studies.

We work side by side with victims to obtain acknowledgment and redress for massive human rights violations, hold those responsible to account, reform and build democratic institutions, and prevent the recurrence of violence or repression.
