Report on situation of human rights in Tunisia to be presented to Council of Human Rights

"A report on the situation of human rights in Tunisia will be presented to the United Nations in Geneva on March 2013" announced, Thursday, Special Rapporteur on human rights defenders Margaret Sekaggya.

After her meeting, Thursday in Tunis, with Human Rights and Transitional Justice Minister Samir Dilou, she called on the Tunisian Government to build on the recommendations included in this report.

Mrs. Sekaggya, who is on a visit to Tunisia, said she has planned visits to the governorates of Jendouba, Kef, Kasserine, Sidi Bouzid and Kairouan to discuss with "representatives of associations and human rights' activists, the situation of freedom of expression in Tunisia as well as conditions for exercising the right of assembly, and trade union and association rights."
