Dr. Amra Sabic-El-Rayess Joins ICTJ Board of Directors

ICTJ is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Amra Sabic-El-Rayess to its Board of Directors.

A native of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Dr. Sabic-El-Rayess is currently a lecturer in the area of applied research methods and educational corruption at Columbia University Teachers College.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Sabic-El-Rayess to ICTJ’s Board,” said ICTJ President David Tolbert. “As a scholar of critical international issues and survivor of the conflict in the former Yugoslavia, Ms. Sabic-El-Rayess is a most welcome addition to ICTJ’s leadership.”

Dr. Amra Sabic-El-Rayess holds a doctorate in Comparative and International Education from Columbia University. Her doctoral research examined the intricacies of corruption in Bosnia's education system. She is a recognized expert on issues of educational corruption, elitism, social mobility and accountability, and has also written on the post-war disarmament, demobilization and reintegration of former soldiers in Bosnia.

Dr. Sabic-El-Rayess is a recipient of multiple awards, including IREX’s 2009-2010 IARO Fellowship, Harriman Institute's Fellowships for Travel and Research in the Former Soviet Union and East Central Europe, and Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars and the Kennan Institute Grant. She is a Member of the Board of External Reviewers for European Education: Issues and Studies, the Bosnian-Herzegovinian American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation Board.
