Prior to joining the ICTJ, Comfort was Policy Advisor to the Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations in Liberia (UNMIL), as well as a Political Affairs Officer for the UN Mission. Previously she was Project Director at the West Africa office of the International Crisis Group. In London in the 1990s she conducted research at King's College, University of London, the International Institute for Strategic Studies, and the United Nations Association-UK. She holds a Ph.D. in International Relations from the London School of Economics, University of London.
